The Chinook Ridge development is a long-range plan for higher and better use of the land with sustainable social, environmental, and economic benefits. There are several advantages:
- a benefit to the community by creating smaller acreage parcels for people who want a rural lifestyle.
- benefit the environment by adding trees and native plants, attracting birds and wildlife habitats, and improving air quality.
- Chinook Ridge is designed to enhance communications between generations and strengthen the social fabric within families and communities.
The end goal is to enable the new acreage owners to start small hobby farms to raise their own food, have horses, or a small number of other animals. The owner’s motivation and the goals of Chinook Ridge are to allow families to benefit from strong ties in a community that supports a healthy lifestyle.
Chinook Ridge will offer a place where families can breathe, have fun, or begin healing and building or strengthening these crucial bonds. A sanctuary where they can reduce the adrenaline by providing a space where outdoor play is still safe. A place where people can become grounded.
It is essential to emphasize the entire Chinook Ridge vision as a showcase of environmental stewardship as we utilize cutting-edge technology in the use of water and wastewater systems.
This project has been in the works since 2009, working its way through the County of Rocky View’s land redesignation process, then the Development Permit and Appeals process, and Alberta Environment and Parks water registration process. One step at a time, we are getting closer. Fortunately, we found a water source that will provide an abundance of water – and we only need a minuscule amount for the entire operation
